Field Clinical Specialist Lead – Structural Heart | Abbott Park, IL

Job Summary:

Abbott, a global leader in healthcare innovation, is seeking a Field Clinical Specialist Lead to support its Structural Heart Division in Abbott Park, Illinois. This role involves hands-on procedural guidance, cardiac imaging interpretation, and clinical education during global trials. Ideal for professionals with a strong foundation in interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging (Echo, CT), and clinical trial support.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key clinical resource for device trials in structural heart disease.

  • Collaborate with investigators to refine therapy protocols, patient selection, and surgical planning.

  • Support interventional cardiologists and surgical teams during cardiac procedures.

  • Provide technical and clinical training to site personnel including cath lab and imaging staff.

  • Interpret Echo and CT imaging using advanced software (e.g., CT CAD).

  • Ensure regulatory compliance during trials and contribute to adverse event documentation.

  • Coordinate site logistics and on-site technical support.

  • Lead training programs and mock procedural planning sessions.

  • Communicate trial progress and clinical findings to internal stakeholders.

  • Prepare case summaries and clinical reports for medical advisors.

  • Travel up to 80%, including international sites, to support procedural needs.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum 9+ years of clinical experience in cardiology or related roles.

  • Strong understanding of heart failure, cardiac hemodynamics, and monitoring devices.

  • Experience with CT CAD imaging software and echocardiography.

  • Proficient in sterile and aseptic techniques.

  • Experience supporting interventional cardiac or surgical procedures.

  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80%).

  • Clean driving record required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical degree preferred (e.g., RN, Perfusionist, PA).

  • Previous experience in the medical device industry, especially structural heart therapies.

  • Familiarity with indirect imaging techniques, regulatory compliance, and trial documentation.
