Role Overview
Sanofi is seeking an Expert Scientific Writer to support global medical, scientific, and publication activities across a broad therapeutic portfolio. This role is designed for experienced scientific writing professionals who can lead complex content development, collaborate with international teams, and drive excellence in medical communication.
Sanofi Business Operations (SBO) supports Specialty Care, Vaccines, General Medicines, CHC, CMO, R&D, and Data & Digital functions worldwide. As an Expert Scientific Writer, you will play a critical role in developing high-quality scientific content that informs healthcare professionals and supports scientific engagement across global markets.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development
Create complex, specialized scientific content with minimal supervision.
Manage end-to-end development of publications and medical education materials, including documentation and approval in systems such as PromoMats and iEnvision.
Develop and maintain deep expertise in relevant therapeutic areas along with compliance and publication processes.
Review and coach senior and junior writers to ensure consistency and quality.
Contribute to the development of best practices and knowledge-sharing frameworks within the writing team.
People and Stakeholder Collaboration
Build strong working relationships with medical and scientific stakeholders within assigned Global Business Units.
Interact with healthcare professionals to support publication content development.
Mentor and guide team members, supporting knowledge enhancement and technical excellence.
Performance and Delivery
Deliver high-quality publication and medical education materials including slide decks, abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and related assets within agreed timelines.
Provide strategic support for internal and external scientific collaborations that enhance publication development.
Process Excellence
Act as a subject-matter expert in medical communication for assigned therapeutic areas.
Support publication needs assessment and help implement the annual publication plan.
Coordinate with regional partners and vendors to ensure timely and compliant delivery of scientific materials.
Utilize advanced digital tools and training methodologies to enhance content quality and team performance.
Continuously refine content and training methodologies based on user feedback.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with regional and local scientific communication teams to understand publication needs.
Collaborate with the medical department to prepare tailored, high-quality scientific deliverables.
About You
Experience Required
Minimum 8 years of experience in scientific/medical content creation within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or academic sectors.
At least 4 years of leadership or supervisory experience in scientific communication or related functions.
Required Skills
Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to cross-functional teams.
Expertise in therapeutic area content development, publication planning, project management, and regulatory-compliant documentation.
Education
Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related scientific discipline (Master’s, PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred).
Languages
Excellent written and spoken English, with strong scientific and medical terminology proficiency.
