Role Overview

The Expert Scientific Writer is a senior-level role responsible for leading the development of high-quality scientific publications and medical education content across assigned therapeutic areas. This position requires deep scientific expertise, strong leadership capability, and the ability to manage end-to-end publication development processes while collaborating with global stakeholders.

The role plays a critical part in shaping scientific communication strategies that support medical education, evidence dissemination, and publication planning at a global level.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Content Development and Leadership

  • Independently create complex scientific and medical education content, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, and congress materials

  • Manage end-to-end publication and medical education workflows, including documentation, review, and approval through systems such as PromoMats and iEnvision

  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned therapeutic areas, ensuring scientific accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment

Team Coaching and Knowledge Building

  • Review, mentor, and coach senior and junior scientific writers to enhance content quality and scientific rigor

  • Promote best practices, process standardization, and continuous improvement within scientific communications teams

Publication Strategy and Execution

  • Conduct publication needs assessments and support the execution of annual publication plans

  • Provide strategic input to ensure timely delivery of high-impact scientific outputs aligned with regional and global objectives

  • Collaborate with external vendors and partners to deliver publication deliverables as per defined quality and compliance standards

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal medical affairs teams, scientific communication groups, and external healthcare professionals

  • Liaise with medical and HEOR teams to develop customized, audience-specific scientific deliverables

  • Support interactions related to publication content with the medical and scientific community

Process Excellence and Innovation

  • Leverage digital tools, advanced training techniques, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance scientific communication effectiveness

  • Incorporate end-user feedback to continuously refine content quality, delivery methods, and training approaches


Education and Experience Requirements

Education

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline

  • Medical degree (MBBS/MD) is an added advantage

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in scientific or medical content creation within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or academic environment

  • At least 4 years of experience in a leadership or senior reviewer role within medical communications or publications

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong expertise in publication development, medical education content, and compliance-driven scientific writing

  • Proven experience with publication planning, submission processes, and project management

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, global matrix environment

  • High proficiency in written and spoken English
