About the Role
Parexel International is seeking a highly skilled Scientific Specialist to join our Medical Communications team in India. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong scientific background who are experienced in medical writing, project management, and client engagement within a medical communications or pharmaceutical environment. The Scientific Specialist will contribute to high-quality scientific content creation, ensure adherence to client and regulatory standards, and support strategic project delivery across multiple therapeutic areas.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Expertise & Knowledge
Maintain in-depth understanding of assigned client products, therapeutic areas, and relevant industry guidelines (e.g., Good Publication Practice).
Apply specialized knowledge to project execution, proposal development, and client solutions.
Monitor technical or process issues, proposing actionable solutions for efficient project delivery.
Project Execution & Delivery
Independently write, edit, and quality-control scientific content including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and FAQs.
Accurately interpret scientific data and ensure outputs align with client objectives and regulatory compliance.
Prioritize tasks, manage project timelines, and proactively communicate project status to stakeholders.
Collaborate with internal teams, freelance contributors, and opinion leaders to ensure seamless project execution.
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
Actively communicate with clients to manage timelines, expectations, and deliverables.
Identify opportunities for follow-on business while maintaining high client satisfaction.
Address complex technical or process issues in collaboration with internal teams and clients.
Team Mentorship & Process Improvement
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, supporting skill development and knowledge sharing.
Participate in peer review processes to ensure accuracy and consistency across all deliverables.
Identify opportunities to optimize project efficiency and recommend process improvements.
Required Skills & Competencies
Exceptional scientific writing and editing skills, with strong proofreading and quality-control capabilities.
Ability to interpret, organize, and present complex scientific data accurately.
Effective project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and client-facing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with scientific databases.
Adaptable, proactive, and collaborative mindset in cross-functional, remote, and global teams.
Experience & Qualifications
5–8 years of relevant experience in medical writing, medical communications, or pharmaceutical content development.
Degree or advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related fields (BSc, BA, PharmD, PhD, MD).
Prior experience in a medical communications agency environment preferred.
Knowledge of Good Publication Practice, regulatory requirements, and industry standards is advantageous.
