This role is based in Genome Valley, Hyderabad, within the Technical Research and Development Organization (TRD) under Global Drug Development (GDD).


Role Overview

The Expert – Science & Technology will lead analytical development for innovative therapeutics, including oligonucleotides and peptides. You will design, plan, and execute scientific studies, develop and validate robust analytical methodologies, and ensure laboratory operations meet global regulatory and quality standards. This position demands deep expertise in chromatography and mass spectrometry applied to complex biological molecules.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct method feasibility studies, develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods for oligonucleotide and peptide therapeutics.

  • Execute, document, and analyze scientific experiments including stability testing, formulation development analytics, release testing, and method validation.

  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and submit raw data using appropriate systems (e.g., LIMS) while adhering to GDP and GLP standards.

  • Evaluate results, investigate SST failures, deviations, OOX events, and change controls as needed.

  • Manage laboratory resources including chemicals, reagents, consumables, columns, and glassware.

  • Implement lean, efficient, and environmentally sustainable laboratory practices.

  • Communicate critical issues proactively to managers and project teams.

  • Achieve Key Quality Indicators (KQIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assigned activities.

  • Support internal and external audits and maintain zero critical findings.

  • Mentor colleagues, contribute to team objectives, and actively participate in scientific exchange groups.

  • Comply with SOPs, GMP, GLP, QM, HSE, ISRM, and Novartis guidelines.


Qualifications

Required:

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent with 1–3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, OR

  • M.Pharm/M.Sc. with minimum 8 years of experience in analytical development.

  • Expertise in chromatography techniques (RP, IEX, HILIC).

  • GMP experience and knowledge of regulatory and quality expectations.

  • Proficiency with laboratory software and tools (LIMS, Chromeleon, Office Suite).

  • Strong scientific background with excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in mass spectrometry for molecular analysis, impurity quantification, and sequencing.

  • Proven experience mentoring colleagues and contributing to scientific networks.
