About the Role

As a Scientist in our team, you will contribute to the development and optimization of analytical methods, support drug substance and drug product development, and ensure high-quality experimental work aligned with Novartis standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform, document, and plan scientific experiments under minimal guidance; seek support proactively from Project Leaders, Scientific Experts, or team members when necessary.

  • Provide documentation of raw data, evaluate results, and contribute to interpretation and reporting; propose designs for subsequent experiments.

  • Optimize existing lab or plant methods and contribute to the development of new or more efficient procedures.

  • Generate lab procedures, reports, instructions, and/or SOPs; actively transfer procedures to pilot plant or production including troubleshooting and process control.

  • Maintain records and manage chemicals, intermediates, excipients, and solvents within the area of responsibility.

  • Collaborate with team members to facilitate deliveries of drug substance (DS) and/or drug product (DP); mentor new team members.

  • Utilize specialized tools/equipment and facilities (e.g., containment/sterile labs); evaluate new lab instruments and perform routine maintenance/calibration.

  • Actively participate in project teams, meetings, and networks; contribute to achieving team goals.

  • Ensure all activities comply with SOPs, GMP, GLP, QM, HSE, ISEC, and Novartis guidelines.

  • Provide strategic and scientific contributions to networks and support achievement of network objectives.


Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD in a technical subject with relevant experience OR Master of Science with 4+ years of relevant experience.

  • Fluency in English.

  • Awareness and experience in safe handling of chemicals, hazardous materials, and laboratory equipment.

  • Broad theoretical and scientific knowledge in relevant areas (manufacturing, analytical, pharmaceutical).

  • Expertise in trace-level quantification of GTI, Nitrosamines, Nitrites, or similar impurities using LC-UV/FID, Ion Chromatography, and LC-MS.

  • Experience handling OOS/OOE and deviations involving the above analytical techniques.

  • Proficiency with laboratory tools, technical instruments, software, and computer tools.

  • Strong documentation skills.
