Position Overview

The Experienced Scientist will be part of the API Cell Therapy group based in Rockville, MD. This role supports clinical manufacturing of autologous CAR-T cell therapy products and collaborates with cross-functional internal and external teams. The position involves troubleshooting, technical guidance, and supporting quality and manufacturing processes critical for delivering life-saving therapies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support clinical ramp-up and manufacturing of autologous T-cell derived cell therapy at internal and CDMO clinical manufacturing sites.

  • Provide expert guidance for resolving technical issues, conducting investigations, and managing deviation assessments.

  • Offer on-floor support during clinical batch manufacturing and mentor/train team members.

  • Drive clinical manufacturing campaigns by writing protocols, memos, reports, and reviewing batch records.

  • Support implementation and execution of automated end-to-end manufacturing processes, collaborating closely with CMOs and internal teams.

  • Utilize expertise in existing and emerging manufacturing systems and troubleshoot as needed.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams contributing to BLA-enabling workstreams.

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve manufacturing outcomes, including success rate, throughput, cost reduction, process time, and final product quality.


Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Immunology, or related field.

  • 2–4 years of industry experience (Advanced degree preferred).

  • Knowledge of biology, immunology, and biochemistry related to cell and gene therapy.

  • Hands-on experience in autologous CAR-T cell therapy manufacturing and technology transfer.

  • Experience with automation equipment and end-to-end manufacturing systems in process development and manufacturing environments.

  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in dynamic, team-oriented environments with strong work ethic and adaptability.

  • Willingness to occasionally work weekends and travel for on-site plant support.


Compensation

  • Base salary range: $89,000 to $161,000 USD
