Position Summary:

The Executive Medical Director, US Medical Affairs Lead will lead the medical strategy and execution for TEPEZZA® (teprotumumab-trbw)—the first and only FDA-approved treatment for Thyroid Eye Disease (TED)—as well as other pipeline products in this franchise.

You will be responsible for maximizing Amgen’s value proposition through medical strategy, stakeholder engagement, evidence generation, and scientific communication.


Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the US medical affairs strategy for TEPEZZA and TED franchise.

  • Guide product strategy and pipeline development within the TED franchise.

  • Lead the external stakeholder strategy including KOL engagement, medical education, and communication.

🔹 Scientific Communication

  • Oversee the development and execution of the US medical communication plan:

    • Scientific platform and core content

    • Publications and congress planning

    • Clinical narrative framework

🔹 Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with US external stakeholders to build awareness of the unmet need and medical value of TEPEZZA and related pipeline products.

  • Elevate Amgen’s reputation as a science-based, patient-focused partner.

🔹 Evidence Generation & Internal Collaboration

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on evidence generation, ensuring regional/local insights inform global strategy.

  • Provide actionable medical insights to internal partners across Commercial, Regulatory, Clinical, and Medical Affairs teams.


About TEPEZZA (Teprotumumab-trbw):

TEPEZZA is a monoclonal antibody targeting IGF-1R, approved for the treatment of TED. It is a breakthrough biologic that improves inflammation, orbital tissue expansion, and proptosis in TED patients—transforming care in a previously underserved condition. Ongoing studies are exploring its use in other IGF-1R–mediated conditions.


Required Qualifications:

🧾 Basic Qualifications (one of the following):

  • Doctorate degree + 6 years of directly related experience, OR

  • Master’s degree + 10 years of directly related experience, OR

  • Bachelor’s degree + 12 years of directly related experience
    AND

  • 6 years of managerial experience (team/project/program leadership or resource allocation)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree: MD, PharmD, or PhD

  • 3+ years Medical Affairs experience in Immunology, Ophthalmology, or Pharmacology

  • 5+ years Medical Affairs experience in biotech, pharma, or CRO settings

  • 5+ years experience working with Rare Diseases

  • Experience collaborating with IDNs, ACOs, and Payers

  • 3+ years of clinical research and/or academic medical practice

  • Familiarity with US regulatory agencies and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical product development, lifecycle, and commercialization

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $343,334 – $403,728 USD
