Role Summary
The Executive Director (Site Head) is the senior-most leader responsible for overall operations, strategy, and performance of Amgen Genome Valley (AGV). The role ensures scientific, operational, safety, and business excellence across the site while aligning with global R&D and corporate objectives.
This is a high-level executive leadership position overseeing site strategy, facilities, lab operations, safety, and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Leadership & Strategy
Develop and execute AGV site strategy, goals, and long-term objectives
Lead the Site Leadership Team (SLT)
Align AGV operations with global Amgen R&D strategy
Provide executive oversight for decision-making and governance
Drive organizational transformation and change management initiatives
Use business intelligence to guide site priorities and performance
2. Scientific Lab Management
Oversee scientific lab operations and productivity
Ensure alignment with Amgen R&D objectives (drug discovery and development)
Improve efficiency and effectiveness of research operations
Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and best practices
3. Site Operations Management
Lead operations across:
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
Facilities management
Lab operations
Security
Manage site governance frameworks
Oversee space planning and capital infrastructure decisions
Act as key decision-maker for operational execution
4. Safety & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with corporate safety policies
Implement safety governance, training, and risk management programs
Conduct inspections, chemical safety management, and surveillance
Ensure crisis management and emergency preparedness (DR/BCP planning)
5. Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as primary liaison for executive leadership visits and audits
Lead town halls, employee engagement programs, and site events
Foster internal culture through ERGs and engagement initiatives
6. External Representation
Represent Amgen in external scientific and industry forums
Engage with universities and research institutions
Participate in conferences (e.g., BIO Asia)
Strengthen external partnerships and scientific reputation
Required Qualifications
Education
Advanced degree preferred:
PhD / Master’s in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medical or related field
Experience
15+ years in pharmaceutical / healthcare industry
Experience in:
Drug discovery and development
Site operations or R&D leadership
Strategic and commercial planning
