Position Overview

This position involves providing emergency medical care to patients in a hospital emergency department. The role requires adaptability, quick decision-making, and the ability to manage diverse acute medical conditions in a fast-paced environment. Specific assignments and requirements may vary based on the facility, patient population, and emergency department volume.

Responsibilities:

Deliver prompt and comprehensive medical care for acute illnesses and emergencies.
Perform patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
Diagnose and stabilize patients with life-threatening conditions.
Develop and implement treatment plans for acute medical and surgical emergencies.
Perform emergency procedures, including suturing, wound care, and splinting.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, CT scans) to guide treatment.
Prescribe medications and manage acute pain effectively.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care.
Maintain thorough and accurate medical documentation.
Stay calm and professional under high-pressure situations.

Clinical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of emergency medicine practices, acute care, and stabilization.
Decision-Making: Strong clinical judgment in fast-paced, time-sensitive environments.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with patients and team members.
Procedural Proficiency: Skilled in emergency procedures, resuscitation techniques, and resource management.
Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple patients simultaneously and remain calm under pressure.
Physical Stamina: Endurance for long shifts in a demanding environment.

Education & Certification Requirements:

Educational Background:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Board Certification:
- Certified by one of the following:
  - American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM)
  - American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
  - American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM)
  - American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
Licensure:
- Active, unrestricted medical license in Kansas.
