Coder Physician – Remote (United States)

Location: Boca Raton, FL, United States
Job Type: Full-Time | Remote

Position Overview

Omega Healthcare is seeking an experienced Coder Physician with strong proficiency in multi-specialty ProFee denial coding. This role supports accurate medical coding across diverse clinical specialties while ensuring compliance, data quality, and regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate brings demonstrated expertise in specialties such as OB/GYN, Family Practice, and Behavioral Health, along with solid understanding of denial management, E/M leveling, and clinical coding guidelines.

This is a full-time remote position with a Monday–Friday schedule and a flexible start time.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret medical records across inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, ProFee, and clinical settings.

  • Assign accurate principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, DRG/APC, and charge codes.

  • Apply coding guidelines and reimbursement methodologies using industry standards.

  • Abstract and code data using EPIC, Encoder Pro, and additional systems as required.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards, including HIPAA and coding regulations.

  • Maintain documentation accuracy, sequence codes correctly, and validate compliance for reporting and billing.

  • Track productivity and meet defined performance benchmarks.

  • Maintain minimum 95 percent coding accuracy.

  • Work collaboratively with teams while upholding professional communication and confidentiality standards.

  • Familiarity with HIPAA-HITECH, coding compliance, and JCAHO standards.


Work Environment

  • Remote home-office setting.

  • Standard office equipment usage including computer, phone, and multiple software platforms.


Physical Requirements

  • Occasional sitting, walking, standing, reaching, or lifting up to 25 lbs.

  • Ability to maintain focus and meet role-specific technical demands.


Required Education & Experience

  • Completion of an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program.

  • Minimum 2 years of recent ProFee denial coding experience, including at least two of the following specialties:

    • Behavioral Health

    • OB/GYN

    • Family Practice

  • Experience with EPIC and Encoder Pro (training provided for qualified candidates).

  • Ability to maintain productivity target of 9 CPH within four weeks.


Preferred Certifications

At least one of the following coding credentials is required:

  • CPC, COC, CIC

  • RHIA, RHIT

  • CCS, CCS-P


Schedule

  • Full-time: Monday to Friday

  • 8-hour shifts between 6 AM and 4 PM CST (flexible start time)

  • Short-term project assignment: November to March
