Position Overview

The EHS Lead will play a crucial role in coordinating and driving all aspects of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives across Wipro's operations in India. The role involves strategic planning, compliance management, and fostering a culture of safety across multiple sites. This position is based in Bangalore and requires travel as needed.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Policy Development

  • Develop and implement strategic EHS plans aligned with organizational goals.

  • Establish and enforce EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

  • Design and execute water neutrality programs and other sustainability initiatives.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to all local, national, and international EHS regulations and standards.

  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance and mitigate risks.

  • Oversee legal and statutory requirements related to EHS compliance.

Operations & Process Implementation

  • Manage environmental facilities such as water treatment plants (WTP) and sewage treatment plants (STP).

  • Design, implement, and enhance EHS systems and procedures to improve safety culture.

  • Develop and monitor emergency response systems across all locations to ensure readiness.

Incident & Emergency Management

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, implementing corrective actions.

  • Establish and train Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) across all locations.

  • Develop crisis and disaster management policies to ensure business continuity.

Training & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Conduct EHS training programs to promote awareness and best practices among employees.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, fostering a culture of safety and sustainability.

  • Engage with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and local communities.

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor EHS performance metrics.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in EHS practices.

  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in the EHS field.

Team & Budget Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of EHS professionals across multiple locations.

  • Manage the EHS department budget, including resource allocation and training expenses.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

  • Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Lead Auditor for ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.

  • Experience: 15+ years in EHS leadership roles within multi-site operations.

  • Proven expertise in developing and implementing EHS strategies, training programs, and compliance audits.

  • Experience with incident investigation, risk assessment, and emergency preparedness.
