The Department of Pathology at Duke University Health System (DUHS) is seeking an academic gastrointestinal (GI) pathologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. DUHS is experiencing significant expansion, with continued growth anticipated in the near future. The role includes a busy clinical service involving the sign-out of GI biopsies and large resection specimens, with a preference for candidates with expertise or interest in bone & soft tissue pathology or other surgical pathology subspecialties. Experience in covering frozen sections is preferred.

Position Responsibilities

  • Clinical Service: Sign out GI biopsies and large resection specimens.
  • Subspecialty Interest: Experience or interest in additional subspecialties such as bone & soft tissue pathology.
  • Teaching and Mentorship: Teach and mentor residents, fellows, and other medical professionals.
  • Research: Clinical and/or translational research experience is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Education: MD or DO degree required.
  • Licensure: Valid North Carolina medical license or qualifications to obtain one.
  • Board Certification: Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology.
  • Fellowship: GI fellowship training or equivalent is necessary.
