Position Summary

The Director - Research Scientist for Early Phase Medical Affairs leads the development and execution of strategic plans for early phase medical affairs in oncology. This role involves crafting scientific stories, creating program awareness tools, and communicating scientific content to internal and external stakeholders. The role focuses on oncology and radioligand therapy, leveraging scientific expertise to drive the awareness of our oncology pipeline. The scientist will facilitate engagement with external customers and stakeholders, identify evidence gaps, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address those gaps. Ultimately, this role will ensure a smooth transition of medical affairs deliverables from early phase programs to late phase teams to support launch readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain medical affairs strategic plans for the radioligand therapy portfolio from clinical entry through commercial decision-making.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of scientific resources for early-phase programs, including mechanism of action imagery, trial awareness materials, congress materials, and more.
  • Drive innovation readiness and integrated evidence generation workstreams, identifying publication opportunities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Leverage scientific expertise and external clinical insights to inform early-phase teams and drive program impact.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including thought leaders (TLs), investigators, and patient advocacy groups, to share scientific information and understand the evolving treatment landscape.
  • Lead training initiatives on the early-phase portfolio and relevant resources.
  • Ensure the smooth transfer of program knowledge and deliverables to late-phase teams, supporting early launch planning and readiness.

Basic Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific graduate degree (MD, MS, PharmD, PhD, or MSN) with an advanced clinical specialty.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Lilly does not provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in oncology and radioligand therapy.
  • 5-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with a preference for medical affairs or clinical development experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey scientific principles to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to think at an enterprise level and navigate a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Additional Information

  • Physical Demands: Office-based duties; up to 25% travel may be required.
  • Work Environment: Primarily office-based.

Compensation

The anticipated compensation for this role is $168,000 - $294,800, depending on experience, education, skills, and geographic location.
