Position Overview:

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Director of Medical Excellence Strategy (Hematology) to join our Medical Affairs team in Horsham, PA. This leadership role will focus on advancing patient care in Hematology, driving initiatives that identify care gaps, integrate health equity into medical strategies, and optimize omnichannel communications with healthcare professionals. The Director will spearhead efforts to enhance the impact of Medical Affairs strategies, driving the adoption and access of transformational therapies within the Hematology therapeutic area.

This dynamic position requires a strategic thinker, who excels in a matrixed environment and has extensive experience in Medical Affairs or pharmaceutical strategy, preferably with a focus in Oncology. Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and Address Care Gaps:
    Analyze the Hematology portfolio to identify unmet needs, ensuring that the Medical Affairs strategy is informed by insights into current care gaps and patient access issues.

  • Health Equity Integration:
    Develop strategies that embed health equity into every aspect of the medical plan, ensuring equitable access to innovative therapies, particularly for underserved patient populations.

  • Medical Excellence Strategy Development:
    Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Medical Excellence strategy to enhance the impact of Medical Affairs on patient outcomes and therapy adoption.

  • Impact Measurement & Metrics:
    Implement frameworks to measure the effectiveness of Medical Affairs strategies, ensuring that impact metrics are established to track progress toward increasing access to and adoption of J&J’s Hematology therapies.

  • Omnichannel Strategy Implementation:
    Co-create and drive a Medical Omnichannel strategy to optimize communication, engagement, and education with healthcare professionals (HCPs) across various channels and platforms.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    Work closely with internal teams such as Strategy, Analytics, and Transformation (STAT), Scientific Affairs (SA), Healthcare Compliance, and Regulatory to align on strategy development and ensure that innovative approaches are compliant and executable within organizational capabilities.

  • Promote Innovation:
    Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the Medical Affairs team, encouraging new approaches to problem-solving and driving creative solutions.

  • Leadership and Influence:
    Lead cross-functional teams with the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority. Promote alignment and ensure all teams are working toward the common goal of improving patient care.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • MD, PharmD, PhD, or MBA (required)

Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years in the pharmaceutical industry or adjacent fields, with significant experience in Medical Affairs.
  • Experience in Oncology is preferred, as the Hematology space often intersects with oncology-related treatments.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, collaborate cross-functionally, and drive strategic initiatives with a focus on patient outcomes and access to therapies.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data and translate it into actionable strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority, fostering collaboration and achieving alignment across teams.
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement and developing innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Approximately 10% travel is required for this position.
