Role Overview
The Dialysis Nurse is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality hemodialysis care in accordance with prescribed treatment protocols and nephrologist guidance. This role involves comprehensive patient assessment, real-time monitoring during dialysis procedures, vascular access management, medication administration, and documentation in compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
Pre-Dialysis Assessment
Evaluate patient’s hemodynamic status and confirm dialysis indications.
Assess vascular access condition and review comorbidities before initiating treatment.
During Dialysis
Perform dialysis procedures strictly as per prescription and nephrologist instructions.
Monitor dialysis parameters including blood flow adequacy, complications, and patient tolerance.
Prime dialyzer and bloodlines accurately before treatment initiation.
Maintain effective communication with nephrologists regarding patient condition changes.
Recommend adjustments based on real-time patient needs under medical supervision.
Post-Dialysis & Ongoing Care
Evaluate patient response to dialysis and medications.
Ensure proper administration of prescribed medications.
Educate patients about kidney disease management, dialysis procedures, and treatment compliance.
Support compassionate and respectful patient care practices.
Quality & Compliance
Maintain and supervise dialyzer reprocessing procedures.
Disinfect hemodialysis machines according to infection control protocols.
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure audit readiness.
Ensure compliance with clinical quality standards and internal SOPs.
Required Qualifications
B.Sc. Nursing / GNM with valid nursing registration.
Minimum 1–3 years of experience in hemodialysis or nephrology nursing.
Strong knowledge of dialysis procedures, vascular access care, and infection control practices.
Experience in monitoring vital signs and managing dialysis-related complications.
Ability to maintain clinical documentation and support medical audits.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of dialysis machine operations and maintenance protocols.
Strong communication skills for patient education and clinical coordination.
Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital or dialysis center environment.
