Position Overview:

The Data Analyst - Medical Affairs role is responsible for driving high-quality data reporting, visualization, and analytics support to enhance the customer experience and business impact within the Medical Affairs department. This individual will collaborate closely with Business Unit Medical Affairs and Global Medical Affairs Organization (GMAO) teams, focusing on building data lakes, delivering insights, and driving scalable reporting frameworks. This position requires a hands-on individual passionate about expanding analytics capabilities and supporting business-critical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Understand Lilly's therapeutic area business and internal partners’ needs, driving data-enabled decision-making.
  • Data Reporting & Visualization: Develop and deliver high-quality, insightful reports and dashboards, enabling stakeholders and senior leadership to make data-driven decisions.
  • Data Validation & Monitoring: Ensure the timely availability of data in reporting/dashboards, with thorough data validation to maintain data quality.
  • Incident Resolution & Root Cause Analysis: Perform incident resolution and root cause analysis to support data and reporting operations.
  • Descriptive Analytics & Reporting: Conduct descriptive analytics to provide insights on planning, execution, and outcomes, supporting business objectives.
  • Dashboard Development: Develop and publish execution dashboards as per business roadmap and requirements, ensuring high-quality delivery.
  • Cross-functional Synergy: Partner with other site-level teams to identify synergies and implement best practices across operations.

Required Skills & Expertise:

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in writing and debugging efficient SQL queries.
    • Expertise in data visualization tools, particularly Power BI (preferred) or Tableau, with the ability to design and develop business dashboards independently.
    • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
    • Knowledge of coding languages such as SQL (mandatory) and familiarity with R or Python is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills:

    • Strong experience in business analytics, data cleaning, and preparation (database querying, descriptive statistics).
    • Problem-solving ability and lateral thinking with strong attention to detail.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Finance, Econometrics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience Requirements:

  • 7-9 years of experience in data management, pharmaceutical market intelligence, performance reporting/visualization, and/or descriptive analytics for leadership, with a proven ability to work with messy and unfamiliar datasets.
  • Experience in project management software (e.g., Wrike, JIRA, Adobe Workfront) and proficiency with multifunctional diagramming tools like Microsoft Project, Visio, Lucid Chart.
  • Strong experience in stakeholder management and the ability to operate effectively across time zones and in a global matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively and meet deadlines under pressure.

Additional Preferences:

  • Product launch experience is highly desirable.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions.
  • A dynamic, results-oriented team player with a strong work ethic and personal motivation.

  • This role may require occasional flexibility to work with global teams across different time zones.
