Coder – Profee Surgery / Anesthesia | Medical Coding Specialist

Job Overview

We are hiring a Coder – Profee Surgery/Anesthesia for a leading healthcare revenue cycle organization. This role focuses on medical coding of surgical and anesthesia services using standard coding systems such as ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS. The position is suitable for professionals aiming to build expertise in surgical coding, anesthesia coding, and outpatient professional fee coding (Profee).


Job Details

  • Work Location: India

  • Experience Required: 1–2 years (Freshers with strong medical coding knowledge may also apply depending on training readiness)

  • Education Qualification: Life Sciences / Paramedical Graduate or Postgraduate

  • Work Mode: Full-time

  • Shift: As per business requirement (may include rotational shifts)

  • Travel Required: None


Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately convert medical diagnoses and procedures into ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes

  • Perform surgical and anesthesia coding with high accuracy and adherence to guidelines

  • Ensure daily coding assignments are completed within defined Turnaround Time (TAT)

  • Review assigned input volumes and maintain coding productivity standards

  • Prepare coding reports in compliance with client-specific and regulatory guidelines

  • Maintain consistent accuracy of 95% or higher in coding output

  • Collaborate with Team Leads (TLs) and Quality Analysts for feedback and improvement

  • Participate in weekly QA and team meetings for performance alignment

  • Ensure compliance with data security, confidentiality, and healthcare information protection policies

  • Report any information security incidents as per organizational protocols


Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy

  • Ability to interpret surgical and anesthesia medical records

  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding conventions

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and in team environments

  • Good communication and documentation skills

  • High attention to detail and accuracy


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with coding tools such as 3M, TruCode, or Optum Encoder

  • Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems like Epic or Cerner

  • Exposure to multiple specialties including Emergency, Radiology, Surgery, and Anesthesia coding

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and reporting tools
