Job Purpose
The Coder utilizes coding expertise to review invoices and provide specialized guidance to billing staff, ensuring compliance and accuracy in medical coding practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct audits and coding reviews to ensure accuracy and precision, including co-source partners.
Assign and sequence all CPT and ICD-10 codes for rendered services when required.
Collaborate with billing staff and system work queues (WQs) to ensure proper claim payments.
Ensure compliance with Medicare policies, coding initiatives, and guidelines.
Work independently from assigned work queues.
Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.
Use, protect, and disclose patients’ Protected Health Information (PHI) only as per HIPAA standards.
Comply with Information Security and HIPAA policies and procedures at all times.
Limit PHI access strictly to the minimum required to perform assigned duties.
Qualifications
Certification: CPC (AAPC) or CCS (AHIMA).
Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of coding experience in specialties such as IP DRG, OP, Denials, SDS, etc.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and job-related software.
Preferred: Surgical coding experience.
Soft Skills:

Working Conditions
