Job Purpose
The Coder applies coding skills to perform invoice reviews and provide expert advice to billing staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with coding standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct audits and coding reviews to ensure accuracy and precision of documentation, including co-source partners.
Assign and sequence CPT and ICD-10 codes for services rendered as required.
Collaborate with billing staff and work queues (WQs) to ensure proper claim payments.
Ensure compliance with Medicare policy requirements, coding initiatives, and guidelines.
Work independently from assigned work queues.
Maintain confidentiality and a professional attitude at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.
Protect, use, and disclose patients’ Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA standards.
Adhere to Information Security and HIPAA policies and procedures.
Limit PHI viewing to the minimum necessary to perform assigned tasks.
Qualifications
Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Certification: CPC (AAPC) or CCS (AHIMA).
Experience: Minimum 2 years of coding experience related to specialties such as IP DRG, OP, Denials, SDS, etc.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and other job-related software.
Preferred: Surgical coding experience.

Working Conditions
