Inpatient Coder – Remote (United States)

Location: Boca Raton, FL, United States
Job Type: Full-Time | Remote

Position Overview

Omega Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Inpatient Coder to support accurate and compliant coding operations across inpatient and multi-setting medical records. The ideal candidate will bring strong coding expertise, demonstrated experience with eCAC, Cerner PowerChart, and a solid understanding of DRG/APC methodologies. This role requires a professional who can ensure accuracy, compliance, and productivity in a remote work environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Abstract, interpret, and code clinical information from inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, ProFee, and clinical medical records.

  • Assign accurate principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and codes with proper sequencing.

  • Apply official coding guidelines and DRG/APC reimbursement methodologies.

  • Enter coded data into multiple software systems and encoders.

  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including state, federal, and HIPAA requirements.

  • Extract and analyze clinical data for reporting and billing documentation.

  • Identify and assign correct codes for medical services and physician procedures across varied systems.

  • Track productivity and meet performance benchmarks defined by the organization and clients.

  • Ensure and maintain a minimum 95 percent quality rating in all coded records.

  • Uphold all organizational policies, including compliance and data confidentiality guidelines.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of post-certification Inpatient Coding experience (current work experience required).

  • Mandatory experience with:

    • eCAC

    • Cerner PowerChart

  • Ability to train on MS4 and eCAC Abstracting systems.

  • Strong understanding of coding principles, medical terminology, DRG assignment, and regulatory compliance.


Required Certifications

Candidates must hold one or more of the following credentials:

  • RHIA

  • RHIT

  • CCS

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills

  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

  • Proficiency with computer systems and multiple encoder platforms

  • Strong understanding of healthcare compliance, HIPAA guidelines, and coding standards
