Job Overview

Omega Healthcare is seeking an experienced Coder 2 – Inpatient professional to perform accurate inpatient medical coding across diagnoses, procedures, and DRG assignments. This role supports high-quality reimbursement, clinical decision-making, analytics, financial planning, and compliance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, technical accuracy, and adherence to regulatory coding standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, pro-fee, and clinical records to abstract, code, and sequence diagnoses and procedures.

  • Assign accurate principal and secondary diagnosis/procedure codes following official guidelines.

  • Utilize DRG/APC reimbursement principles and coding conventions to ensure precise documentation and billing.

  • Enter coded data into multiple software platforms and encoders.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements.

  • Ensure coding accuracy and uphold a minimum 95% quality rating.

  • Track productivity metrics and maintain targets set by the client.

  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Work Environment

  • Fully remote role operating from a home office.

  • Standard office equipment usage including laptop, headset, and communication tools.

  • Minimal travel (up to 5%).

Schedule

  • Full-Time

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • May require occasional extended hours or weekend availability.

Required Education & Experience

  • Successful completion of an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program.

  • Minimum 2–4 years of current inpatient acute care and pro-fee coding experience.

Required Certifications

(Must hold at least one of the following client-required credentials):

  • RHIA

  • RHIT

  • CCS
