Position Overview:

The Clinical Research Physician (CRP) in Neuroscience will serve as an integral member of the Medical Affairs and Development teams. This role provides leadership in clinical strategy, research, and medical expertise within the neuroscience therapeutic area, including Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other neurological conditions. The CRP will be responsible for overseeing clinical trial processes, contributing to medical strategies, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to advance the clinical and scientific understanding of the product portfolio, ensuring alignment with both regional and global business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Medical Expertise & Strategy:

  • Provide medical expertise in neuroscience, including Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, and related conditions, across Lilly’s product portfolio.
  • Develop and contribute to the medical strategy for brand commercialization, ensuring alignment with business goals and patient needs.
  • Collaborate with global, regional, and affiliate teams, contributing to clinical strategies and supporting new product development from early phase through commercialization.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge of data related to respective molecules and guide internal and external stakeholders on scientific matters.
  • Contribute to pricing, reimbursement, and access activities by offering clinical insights to the Access team and supporting payer partnership programs.

Clinical Research & Trial Execution:

  • Lead clinical planning, execution, and oversight of local clinical trials in alignment with global and regional strategies.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality, timely clinical trials.
  • Provide input into trial protocols, clinical study reports, and regulatory submissions.
  • Drive clinical trial site selection, initiation, and resolution of any site issues.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Partner with various teams, including Medical Affairs Professionals (MAPs), Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), Marketing, Sales, Clinical Operations, and others, to ensure seamless communication and effective execution of strategies.
  • Contribute to the training of internal stakeholders, including medical and sales representatives, on scientific content and clinical data.
  • Support strategic planning and execution for the launch and post-launch activities of products in the neuroscience therapeutic area.

External Relations & Scientific Data Dissemination:

  • Engage with external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals (HCPs), advocacy groups, and government agencies, to build relationships and share clinical data.
  • Represent Lilly at scientific meetings, advisory boards, and conferences, presenting clinical findings and facilitating discussions with KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders).
  • Contribute to the development of scientific publications, presentations, and other materials for external communication.

Regulatory & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local and global regulations, including Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and company policies, in all medical and clinical activities.
  • Review and approve promotional and non-promotional materials to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide expertise to regulatory submissions, health technology assessments (HTAs), and label updates for new and existing products.

People Leadership:

  • Work closely with direct reports (MAPs, MSLs) to support their professional development, performance management, and career growth.
  • Mentor and coach team members on clinical data, disease area knowledge, and clinical trial execution.
  • Participate in recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring a diverse and talented team.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education & Experience:

  • Basic Medical Qualifications: MD, MBBS, or equivalent medical degree.
  • Registration: Full medical council registration or eligibility for registration.
  • Therapeutic Area Expertise: Experience in neuroscience or related fields (highly desirable).
  • Clinical Experience: Experience in clinical research or drug development, preferably in the neuroscience therapeutic area.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence strategic decisions in a clinical and commercial setting.

  • Strong scientific background with the ability to interpret and communicate complex clinical data.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance scientific priorities with business goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership capabilities to mentor and guide team members.
  • Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally as required.
