🏢 About the Role

Fortrea is seeking a Clinical Research Physician to join our Phase I site in Madison, WI. This is a full-time, onsite position offering hands-on experience in early-phase clinical trials. You will play a pivotal role in medical oversight, participant safety, and clinical research leadership — all while maintaining an excellent work-life balance.

🔍 Role Highlights

  • Provide onsite medical coverage and oversight for healthy volunteer studies

  • Maintain excellent work-life balance with a steady Monday–Friday schedule (7:30 AM – 3:30 PM)

    • (Schedule may vary based on enrollment periods)

  • Participate in Call Rotation (1:5) — every fifth weekend (from home; come in as needed)

  • Communicate effectively across clinical teams, regulatory bodies, and study participants

  • Support study protocols, attend IRB/IEC meetings, and host client visits

  • Conduct pre-study, on-study, and post-study medical examinations

  • Serve as Sub-Investigator (Sub-I) or Principal Investigator (PI) as assigned

  • Perform additional duties as required


🎓 Qualifications

  • Education: MD or DO

  • Licensure: Active Wisconsin Medical License + DEA Certification

  • Certifications: CPR / ACLS (Required)

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years clinical experience (Family Medicine or Primary Care preferred)

  • Clinical Research Experience: Prior experience in clinical trials preferred

  • Language Proficiency: English (speaking, writing, and reading)

  • Relocation: Open to candidates willing to relocate and obtain Wisconsin state licensure

  • Fortrea may consider relevant and equivalent experience in lieu of formal educational requirements.

🧪 Work Environment

  • Clinical and laboratory setting with exposure to biological fluids

  • Use of electrical office and lab equipment

  • Occasional domestic travel and site visits required

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required: protective eyewear, gloves, garments


💪 Physical Requirements

  • Work in upright/stationary position for 6–8 hours daily

  • Repetitive hand movements for lab operations and computer use

  • Frequent bending, twisting, crouching, and stooping

  • Light to moderate lifting/carrying (15–20 lbs)

  • Regular and consistent attendance; varied hours may be required
