Position Summary:

The Clinical Research Nurse Practitioner supports Principal Investigators in medical oversight of clinical protocols within the Early Phase Clinical Research Unit. This onsite role in Bethesda, MD involves reviewing protocols, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, conducting clinical assessments, fostering client relationships, and supporting operational staff.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review protocols for scientific, logistical, and safety feasibility.

  • Conduct clinical duties per protocol and delegation of authority.

  • Ensure trials meet informed consent and IRB requirements.

  • Review and approve regulatory and medical data related to studies.

  • Research compounds for subject safety assessments.

  • Evaluate and support implementation of new clinical technologies.

  • Participate in internal meetings, staff training, and client consultations.

  • Support business development and scientific communications (posters, publications).

  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed.


Education & Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing.

  • APRN Prescriptive Authority.

  • AANP Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical research experience preferred.


Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of clinical research regulations and drug development process.

  • Ability to assess safety and tolerability of various drug classes.

  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Flexibility to travel.

  • Proficiency with basic computer applications.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Office environment with use of PPE as needed.

  • Stationary work for 6-8 hours/day with some mobility.

  • Ability to perform repetitive hand movements and light lifting (15-20 lbs).

  • Occasional travel and on-call duties.

  • Frequent communication with diverse teams.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $119,000 – $140,000 annually.
