Position Overview

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is seeking a Clinical Genetics Coordinator to oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the genetic counseling staff and clinical schedules. This role encompasses various specialized services such as preconception, prenatal, hereditary cancer, hereditary cardiac, proactive, and pharmacogenomics testing. The Clinical Genetics Coordinator acts as a liaison between genetic services, specialty providers, and the Director of Precision Medicine. This individual will lead genetic counseling teams, support the development of genetic counseling programs, and provide clinical expertise for complex cases.


Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Lead day-to-day operations of the genetic counseling team, including staff orientation, maintaining schedules, ensuring accurate work, and reporting performance to the Director of Precision Medicine.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure staff compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies governing the genetic program.
  • Clinical Expertise: Manage clinical caseloads, provide advanced genetic counseling services, and assess recurrence risks while recommending appropriate testing.
  • Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between genetic services and other clinical departments, ensuring smooth operations and patient care integration.
  • Training & Development: Oversee genetic counseling experiences for new employees, students, and trainees, providing mentorship and fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Service Growth & Improvement: Identify growth opportunities, contribute to the development and implementation of new services, and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Community Engagement: Teach workshops and classes to medical and general communities to promote genetic counseling services.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • Certifications: Board Certified or Board Eligible with the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
  • Licensure: Must be licensed in the state where work is performed.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of counseling experience, including program development, and at least three years of experience supervising students.

Knowledge & Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of human genetics, counseling techniques, and clinical practices.
  • Experience in pedigree analysis, risk assessment, genetic screening, testing, and identifying support resources.
  • Familiarity with the ethical and religious guidelines for Catholic healthcare services.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications.
