About the Role

Cell Press, a premier part of Elsevier’s STM journals, is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientific Editor with expertise in Neuroscience or Cell Biology to join iScience, our interdisciplinary open-access journal. This role offers a unique opportunity to support high-quality scientific communication, contribute to the editorial process, and engage with researchers globally.

As an Associate Scientific Editor, you will play a key role in evaluating submissions, coordinating peer review, and supporting the publication of impactful research that advances science and benefits society.


Key Responsibilities

  • Editorial Assessment: Evaluate the novelty, quality, and impact of submitted research papers.

  • Peer Review Management: Oversee the peer review process for direct and transferred submissions.

  • Author & Researcher Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with authors and academic institutions.

  • Content Acquisition: Recruit high-quality research papers and commission review articles for publication.

  • Representation: Represent iScience and Cell Press at scientific conferences, workshops, and research institutions.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with academic editorial board members and internal editors to ensure smooth editorial workflows.

  • Interdisciplinary Contribution: Support the growth of an interdisciplinary journal by staying informed about emerging topics across life sciences.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: PhD in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, or related life science discipline.

  • Experience: Postdoctoral research experience is a plus; early-career PhD holders with strong publication record are encouraged to apply.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Deep knowledge of Neuroscience or Cell Biology research methods.

    • Experience in statistical analysis is advantageous.

    • Strong understanding of scientific publishing and peer review processes is a plus.

  • Skills:

    • Exceptional written and verbal communication in English.

    • Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities.

    • Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset.

    • Collaborative, adaptable, and able to work across time zones.
