Introduction to the Role:

Join AstraZeneca's R&D division as an Associate Medical Director, Patient Safety Physician. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the efficient and continuous evaluation of adverse events and safety data to manage the safety profile of marketed products. You will play a key role in authoring and reviewing aggregate regulatory documents and evaluating the clinical implications of safety data from multiple sources.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Surveillance: Lead the evaluation of adverse events, safety data, and manage the safety profiles of marketed products, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Medical Review: Provide medical expertise and judgment for safety data review and signal detection for complex products. Participate in Safety Management Team activities.
  • Regulatory Involvement: Author safety content for regulatory documents, including Health Hazard Evaluation reports, and contribute to regulatory and non-regulatory meetings.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally across Therapeutic Areas and with external providers to discuss the evaluation of safety data and collaborate with key stakeholders.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives within Patient Safety.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Medical Degree: MD, MBBS, or equivalent.
  • Clinical Experience: At least 2 years of clinical experience post-registration.
  • Patient Safety Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in Pharmacovigilance (Patient Safety), with clear evidence of delivering results.
  • Total Experience: 6 to 11 years in the field, including experience working across multiple Therapeutic Areas.
  • Supervisory Experience: Experience in supervising and guiding Patient Safety colleagues.
  • Epidemiological Data Expertise: Ability to interpret and understand epidemiological data relevant to patient safety.
