Position Overview

BMS is seeking an Associate Director, Specimen Systems & Data to lead and manage the Specimen Systems & Data and Imaging Management teams in Hyderabad. This role combines people management, operational leadership, and cross-functional project execution, ensuring high-quality data and biospecimen operations in support of global clinical trials.

This position is ideal for professionals with 6+ years of global experience in clinical drug development, biospecimen management, or related fields, including at least 2 years in people management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage team members, including mentoring, performance evaluations, goal setting, and fostering a motivated, high-performing work environment.

  • Operational Oversight: Develop, implement, and prioritize processes for specimen systems and imaging management in alignment with BMS standards.

  • Project Coordination: Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to optimize workflows, support integration initiatives, and ensure around-the-clock operational coverage.

  • Process Development: Partner with leadership to refine procedures, track organizational metrics, and drive continuous process improvements.

  • Guidance & Mentorship: Provide hands-on guidance in day-to-day activities, ensuring team adherence to SOPs and quality standards.

  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as a primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating strong conflict resolution, change management, and decision-making skills.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: BA/BS or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 6 years of global experience in clinical research, biospecimen management, or related areas.

    • At least 2 years of direct people management experience.

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Deep understanding of biospecimen and imaging lifecycle management, including collection, tracking, logistics, chain of custody, and data management.

    • Experience in clinical trials, healthcare, laboratory, or equivalent environments.

    • Familiarity with vendors such as central labs, imaging providers, bioanalytical services, CROs, and biospecimen storage vendors.

    • Ability to manage enterprise-wide initiatives and complex projects with a strategic mindset.

    • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions.

    • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on accountability, innovation, and team engagement.


Work Environment & Travel

  • Work Setting: Hyderabad office-based role, with occasional collaboration across global teams.

  • Travel: Minimal; as required for team or vendor support.
