Job Summary

Thornshaw Recruitment, a leading division of CPL Group, is hiring an Associate Director of Pharmacovigilance for a consultancy partner in the life sciences sector. This fully remote role, based in Ireland or the UK, offers a high-impact leadership opportunity to oversee and grow pharmacovigilance operations, shape regulatory strategies, and drive departmental profitability. Ideal for senior PV professionals ready to lead global teams and collaborate on commercial decision-making in a dynamic consultancy environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the pharmacovigilance department.

  • Ensure full compliance with global pharmacovigilance regulations and maintain an effective PV system.

  • Act as an internal and external subject matter expert for pharmacovigilance.

  • Lead team recruitment, training, and retention for optimal performance.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to promote excellence and accountability.

  • Represent the department in senior leadership meetings and contribute to corporate strategy.

  • Develop and implement policies and SOPs for health, safety, and regulatory compliance.

  • Promote team collaboration across all subsidiaries and foster a supportive, inclusive culture.

  • Drive business development strategies and represent the company in client negotiations.

  • Draft PDP goals and monitor departmental objectives and budget performance.

  • Publicly represent the company in strategic engagements and PR activities.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or healthcare (essential).

  • Proven pharmacovigilance industry experience at a senior or leadership level.

  • Strong people management and organizational skills.

  • Excellent leadership and communication capabilities.

  • Understanding of financial management, including budgets and commercial performance.

  • Eligibility to act as a Qualified Person for Pharmacovigilance (QPPV) is desirable.

  • Strategic mindset with experience in business development or client negotiations.

  • Commitment to continuous professional and leadership development.
