Job Summary:

The Associate Director, MSL Communications leads the development and execution of Medical Science Liaison (MSL) communications strategies and digital medical education initiatives for the Multiple Myeloma portfolio within US Medical Affairs (Hematology). The role is responsible for creating high-quality medical communication materials, managing projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet educational needs within compliance guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:

Medical Communications Development & Management

  • Lead creation and maintenance of medical communication materials for Hematology MSLs and digital education platforms.

  • Manage proactive and reactive content including congress materials, publications, disease awareness, prescribing information, and other educational topics.

  • Use Veeva system for tracking, review, and storage of all communication materials.

  • Ensure scientific accuracy and compliance through quality control and facilitate review/approval processes.

  • Support slide creation and formatting for abstracts, posters, and oral presentations from congresses for post-congress decks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build effective relationships with internal partners (MSL teams, Medical Directors, Medical Excellence, Medical Communications) to align communications with strategic needs.

  • Liaise with MSLs and healthcare professionals to understand educational needs and deliver compliant solutions.

  • Collaborate on ad hoc communication requests from MSL partners.

Vendor Management & Innovation

  • Select, manage, and oversee medical communications vendors, providing direction, feedback, and managing related budgets.

  • Stay current on innovative communication methods and digital medical education platforms (e.g., Sermo, Doximity, OncLive).

Performance & Compliance Monitoring

  • Track and analyze engagement metrics from communication materials and digital platforms to inform improvements.

  • Support compliant development and review of materials including Scientific Information for Unapproved Use (SIUU).


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Healthcare, or related field with minimum 6 years medical communications/writing or pharmaceutical experience; OR

  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD, PharmD) with minimum 4 years related pharmaceutical/work experience.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to translate complex clinical concepts into simple, digestible visual displays.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and partner with scientists, clinicians, and vendors.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent fact-checking skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Professional.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in Oncology or related therapeutic areas.

  • Experience working within pharmaceutical healthcare compliance for external scientific communication.

  • Familiarity with 3rd party digital medical education platforms.
