Position Summary:

As an Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) specializing in Cardiac Electrophysiology, you will be responsible for advancing the science and clinical utility of Biosense Webster’s cardiac ablation and diagnostic platforms. This business-critical role requires a strong combination of commercial/business acumen and medical affairs expertise. The position focuses on KOL engagement, advisory boards, research, publications, medical education, and field intelligence to support the electrophysiology community and internal cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Engagement & Scientific Authority

  • Develop and implement strategic engagement plans to build and maintain relationships with KOLs, surgeons, OR staff, and medical societies within cardiac ablation.

  • Serve as a scientific authority in cardiac electrophysiology, delivering medical education to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Communicate complex scientific information clearly and effectively, ensuring understanding of product benefits and clinical utility.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Management, Clinical Affairs, Marketing, Scientific Affairs, and R&D teams to provide scientific insights and support.

  • Lead or participate in voice of customer sessions, physician-initiated clinical studies, publication planning, and educational programs.

  • Collaborate on Investigator Initiated and Collaborative study concepts with clinicians.

Knowledge & Training

  • Stay current on scientific literature, emerging trends, and clinical research in cardiac electrophysiology and appendage closure.

  • Lead preparation of scientific presentations and participate in symposia, conferences, and educational programs.

  • Provide training to Sales, Marketing, and internal teams to ensure deep understanding of scientific messages.

  • Engage in internal trainings from Professional Education and Scientific Affairs University.

Research & Data Management

  • Support clinical studies and research initiatives by providing scientific and technical expertise.

  • Organize, analyze, and report customer, scientific, and market information for both pre-launch and marketed products.

  • Develop educational materials and support personnel programs.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Advanced Degree (MD or PhD) required.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry with focus on cardiovascular medicine.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in Medical Affairs, Medical Science Liaison, or Clinical Practice preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of cardiovascular medicine, preferably cardiac electrophysiology.

  • Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies, regulatory guidelines, and medical terminology.

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with KOLs, surgeons, and healthcare professionals.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret scientific data accurately and efficiently.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills for diverse audiences.

  • Highly self-motivated, independent, and adaptable to changing priorities and environments.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Other Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Salary Range: $137,000 to $235,750 (California Bay Area: $168,000 to $271,400)

  • Eligible for annual performance bonuses based on individual and company performance.
