Summary

The Associate Director – Medical Information is accountable for delivering high-quality medical information documents and responses for assigned assets and disease areas aligned to Therapeutic Areas (TAs).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting clinical practice by shaping practitioner understanding of Novartis products.

  • Executing medical information processes, content, and systems while adhering to compliance and regulatory requirements.

  • Implementing industry-leading practices and emerging technologies in medical information.

  • Developing productive partnerships with enterprise stakeholders (Biomedical Research, Development, MA/Commercial) across the complete asset lifecycle—from pipeline/early asset to late-stage/registration.


Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop global medical information strategic and tactical plans for assigned assets/disease areas.

  • Provide direction for content development of Global Guidance Documents (GGDs) ensuring accuracy and currency with medical literature.

  • Conduct review and approval for GGDs and escalated inquiries.

Medical Information Oversight

  • Provide oversight of global escalation processes for medical information inquiries.

  • Evaluate worldwide medical inquiries to identify emerging issues and provide feedback to Medical Affairs and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Establish best practices and guidance in collaboration with country teams for medical information launch readiness.

Support & Compliance

  • Support medical booths at congresses, ensuring quality and compliance with internal SOPs, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

  • Support development, maintenance, and implementation of global medical information policies and procedures.


Essential Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, ideally in Medical Affairs and/or Medical Information.

  • Education: Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) or equivalent in life sciences/healthcare preferred.

  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • Experience in Medical Affairs or Medical Information solutions with demonstrated innovation.

    • Understanding of the role of medical information and customer needs.

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    • Ability to provide strategic insight supporting launch assets.

    • Thorough understanding of internal/external ethical guidelines in the pharmaceutical industry.
