Position Summary

The Associate Director (AD) leads client relationships, manages cross-functional teams, and ensures flawless project execution across multiple accounts. The AD is responsible for growing existing client business, maintaining project quality and compliance, and leading a team of medical communications professionals.


Core Responsibilities

πŸ”Ή Client Relations & Brand Management

  • Build and maintain strong, strategic client relationships

  • Understand clients’ roles, communication styles, motivators, and goals

  • Ensure IQVIA’s (Simpson Healthcare’s) brand is represented in all communications and deliverables

  • Collaborate with leadership to identify and pitch new opportunities

  • Attend key meetings such as:

    • Weekly client status calls

    • Brand planning meetings

    • Workshops

    • Advisory boards

    • Speaker trainings

    • Congresses


πŸ”Ή Project Management

  • Oversee all deliverables for assigned clients:

    • On budget

    • On time

    • Error-free

    • Strategic

    • Compliant with internal and client SOPs

  • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors on project expectations and timelines

  • Track scope changes and communicate via internal systems (e.g., CCR process)

  • Review monthly phasing reports and ensure accurate invoicing

  • Adhere to internal project management tools:

    • PIT Crew

    • Basecamp

    • Good to Go

    • Weekly update meetings

  • Stay updated on therapeutic areas, brand goals, and disease-specific knowledge

  • Support business development efforts with client pitches and presentations

  • Manage full scope of work or flag projects at risk and collaborate on solutions


πŸ”Ή Team Management

  • Lead and mentor direct reports

  • Hold weekly 1:1s and conduct performance reviews

  • Enforce timekeeping, training, and SOP adherence

  • Assign projects based on bandwidth, experience, and development goals

  • Collaborate on team growth plans and provide constructive feedback

  • Identify and advocate for necessary resources or process improvements

  • Foster open communication and a positive team environment


πŸ”Ή Other Duties

  • Approve staff timesheets and submit personal weekly timesheets

  • Participate in and/or lead internal meetings

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications

πŸŽ“ Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Marketing, Business, or Science)

  • Equivalent experience acceptable

  • 8–12 years of experience in:

    • Medical communications

    • Healthcare marketing

    • Scientific agency environment

  • Prior people management experience preferred

πŸ’Ό Skills & Competencies

  • Proven relationship-building and client service skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • High attention to detail

  • Time and priority management skills

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Familiarity with project management tools (Basecamp preferred)

  • Comfortable with video conferencing tools (Zoom, Teams, WebEx)

  • Strategic, persuasive communicator and effective public speaker

  • Curious and collaborative mindset

  • Capable of independent initiative and solution-oriented thinking


Travel Requirements

✈️ Up to 25% travel required (to meet clients or attend events)

$98,900 – $275,300
