Position: Principal Scientist

About the Role:

As a Principal Scientist at Novartis, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing either in a multidisciplinary unit or GMP facility (Management Track) or all project/network activities (Scientific/Technical Track). Your responsibilities will include shaping strategic direction, driving operational excellence, and ensuring portfolio support in alignment with Novartis' vision and strategy.

Major Accountabilities:

Management Track:

  • Demonstrate exceptional creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Plan R&D programs and recommend technological application programs.
  • Provide strategic and/or management interface support.
  • Develop concepts and propose approaches to address medical device/science/technology needs.
  • Ensure continuity of product and process assessment feasibility, research, design, development, and compliance.
  • Provide leadership direction and coordinate multiple resources to solve complex problems.

Scientific/Technical Track:

  • Initiate and lead new scientific/development programs.
  • Evaluate and implement new scientific technologies.
  • Provide scientific/technical leadership for efficient and robust processes.
  • Report and present scientific/technical work at internal/external meetings/conferences and publish in peer-reviewed international scientific journals.
  • Assume scientific/technical key functions in teams, projects, networks, platforms, and/or department activities.

Key Performance Indicators:

Management Track:

  • Positive customer/business partner feedback.
  • Contribute to the achievement of function objectives and strategy.
  • Accountability for costs, quality, quantity, and timelines.
