Purpose of the Role:

The Associate Director, Capabilities Lead for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) is responsible for managing training operations, personnel development, project/business planning, and driving quality and operational excellence within the CLS function. This role supports global CLS operations, provides metrics and project management to enhance daily operations and supports transformation initiatives and projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

Training & Onboarding

  • Design and coordinate the training and onboarding processes for new hires within CLS.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure training materials are optimized and updated to reflect policy/procedure changes.
  • Develop, update, and deliver role-specific training resources.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and implement improvements based on feedback.
  • Recommend and implement new technologies or methodologies to enhance training delivery.

Business Planning and Operations

  • Develop and manage metrics to drive operational improvements and support CLS business goals.
  • Lead or participate in special projects related to process improvement, capability enhancement, and strategic initiatives.
  • Communicate progress, risk mitigation strategies, and deliverables with key stakeholders.
  • Prioritize work, manage resources, track progress, and adjust timelines to meet business needs.

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive CLS objectives.
  • Share best practices across teams to ensure consistent cross-functional capabilities.
  • Provide leadership, influence, and coordination to support CLS strategies.
  • Oversee audit readiness, quality assurance, and compliance across CLS processes.

Strategy Development & Implementation

  • Lead the implementation of CLS enterprise strategies, monitoring performance, and adjusting as needed.
  • Facilitate cross-functional synergies to support the successful implementation of new strategies.
  • Represent CLS in work stream projects and process improvement initiatives.

External Outreach

  • Maintain key external industry contacts and develop strong partnerships.
  • Participate in networking and benchmarking to enhance industry knowledge and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, medical, or project management field.
  • 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or drug development.
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering strategic projects, training, and vendor management.

Additional Preferences:

  • Experience in operations, change management, training, and metrics/reporting.
  • High learning agility and ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and manage complex projects.
  • Ability to manage resources and priorities in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (up to 10% per month).
