Job Purpose

The Associate Director – Biostatistics defines, staffs, and leads a statistical science function to provide:

  • Administrative direction and leadership

  • Process expertise and guidance

  • Coaching and mentoring

  • Portfolio delivery oversight

The role is accountable for on-time, high-quality deliverables, staff development, regulatory compliance, strategic implementation, and building advanced statistical capabilities to support next-generation drug development and analytics.


Primary Responsibilities

1. Portfolio Delivery & Strategy

  • Lead cross-functional teams and act as a scientific thought leader.

  • Ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of clinical outcomes and statistical support.

  • Participate in strategy development and monitor delivery metrics.

  • Assess resource demand, prioritize work, and resolve scope issues.

  • Coordinate internal and outsourced project resources.

  • Partner with global leaders for project decisions related to clinical data execution.

  • Develop deep therapeutic area expertise within the Bengaluru team.

2. Statistical & Analytical Capabilities Development

  • Establish and strengthen technical capabilities of the team, including direct reports and a diverse staff.

  • Build strategies and capabilities for advanced statistical methods.

  • Foster therapeutic and scientific excellence to deliver proactive business solutions.

3. Enterprise Leadership

  • Demonstrate technical expertise, business acumen, problem-solving skills, and agility.

  • Represent the Statistics, Data & Analytics organization internally and externally.

  • Maintain awareness of global regulatory requirements (US, EU, Japan, China).

  • Serve as an external thought leader in statistical sciences.

  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and best practices.

  • Drive continuous improvement and shared learning across teams.

4. People Management & Development

  • Recruit, coach, and mentor team members to integrate into global teams.

  • Build an agile, inclusive, and innovative organization.

  • Develop staff expertise in drug development, therapeutic science, project management, and cross-functional leadership.

  • Foster leadership, judgment-based decision-making, and clinical delivery capabilities.


Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics

  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience

  • Broad knowledge of the drug development process, including regulatory and quality expectations
