Job Title: Assistant Manager – Medical Coding
Location: Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India

Job Summary:
Optum is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Medical Coding to lead a team of certified coders and ensure excellence in coding operations. This role is ideal for professionals who bring a strong background in performance management, quality control, and medical coding expertise. The position involves managing coding teams, driving compliance, and fostering a high-performance culture in alignment with company values and healthcare excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of 25–30 certified medical coders, ensuring effective onboarding and training.

  • Oversee performance metrics including timeliness, quality, and productivity.

  • Monitor job outcomes, coach and counsel team members, and enforce systems and productivity standards.

  • Identify trends, resolve quality/customer service issues, and recommend improvements.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in medical coding by participating in workshops and professional societies.

  • Promote employee engagement through clear communication, skill-based empowerment, and continuous feedback.

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, including flexibility in work arrangements and operational directives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate in any discipline.

  • Certified coder from AAPC or AHIMA.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Team Leader or Assistant Manager role.

  • Experience managing a team of at least 15 coders.

  • Proven track record in performance management, coaching, quality assurance, and team development.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Familiarity with basic office equipment like copiers and fax machines.
