Role Overview

As the People Relations Lead, you will lead a team of Employee Relations (ER) case workers across the EMEA region. The role will require handling complex employee relations issues, managing relationships with Works Councils, ensuring legal compliance, and fostering a fair and respectful work environment. You’ll work closely with HR teams to drive employee relations initiatives and resolve sensitive cases.


Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Case Management

  • Lead & Mentor: Supervise and develop a team of ER case workers in the EMEA region, providing guidance for effective case resolution and prioritization.
  • Case Oversight: Manage employee relations cases, including grievances, misconduct investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance issues. Ensure cases are handled confidentially and in compliance with company policies and local regulations.

Works Council & Compliance Management

  • Works Council Relations: Foster positive relationships with Works Councils across Europe, ensuring consultation and compliance with national labor laws.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure that ER practices are consistent with both regional and global policies, as well as local labor laws across the EMEA region.
  • Escalation Point: Provide expert advice and guidance on complex or sensitive cases, ensuring fairness, consistency, and empathy.

Training & Development

  • Training Sessions: Collaborate with the Employee Relations Center of Excellence (ER CoE) to provide training on case handling, compliance, and conflict resolution.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline ER case management processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Reporting

  • Stakeholder Communication: Work closely with local HR teams, ER CoE, and People Services to align on employee relations matters and trends.
  • Data & Insights: Monitor case data across the region to identify recurring issues and trends. Provide reports and insights to drive improvements and preventative measures.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years in employee relations or HR case management, specifically within the EMEA region. Extensive experience with Works Council relations is required.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience managing a team and overseeing large-scale ER programs across multiple countries.

Skills

  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of employment laws, Works Council requirements, and ER best practices across the EMEA region.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Integrity & Empathy: High level of confidentiality and empathy in handling sensitive employee relations issues.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
