Job Description

Position: Medical Science Liaison

Overview:
Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) are responsible for engaging in non-promotional, peer-to-peer communications and providing medical and scientific information to Scientific Leaders (SLs) and Key Decision Makers (KDMs). This role ensures the exchange of scientific knowledge and provides expert support in various medical affairs activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engagement with External Leaders:

    • Engage in non-promotional, peer-to-peer medical and scientific discussions with SLs or KDMs, adhering to legal, regulatory, and ethical guidelines.
    • Gain insights into disease areas, therapeutic needs, data gaps, and local healthcare challenges.
    • Represent Medical Affairs at non-promotional medical events (e.g., Medical Congresses, Symposia) and assist with event coordination and post-event summaries.
    • Respond to unsolicited requests for medical, scientific, pipeline, or marketed product information using approved scientific materials.
    • Direct SLs and KDMs to appropriate company resources for information on research, grants, and clinical trial involvement.
    • Organize and participate in medical and scientific exchanges such as hospital lectures, journal clubs, and advisory boards, occasionally presenting information.
    • Share publicly available areas of interest with SLs and provide further resources as needed.
    • Provide support for Health Technology Assessments and formulary decisions.
  • Internal Support:

    • Develop regional Medical Affairs Plans and ensure the successful implementation of activities.
    • Identify potential investigators for sponsored studies.
    • Gather insights from scientific exchange to inform development programs and company strategies.
    • Provide scientific training to commercial teams as permitted.
    • Offer scientific support to patient access programs.
  • Collaboration:

    • Work with Medical Advisors and MSL colleagues within and across therapeutic areas (TAs) to ensure smooth collaboration and knowledge transfer.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (Medical Doctor).
  • Relevant pharmaceutical experience; experience in Medical Affairs is preferred.
  • Strong scientific knowledge in the assigned therapeutic areas.
  • Familiarity with clinical trial methods, implementation, and data interpretation.
  • Ability to confidently present complex scientific information in a manner that builds trust and credibility.
  • Demonstrated capability in peer-to-peer scientific exchange and internal reporting through organizational systems.
