Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coding Coder to support high-quality invoice reviews, coding audits, and billing process optimization. This role requires strong technical coding expertise, thorough knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 guidelines, and the ability to support billing teams with accurate and compliant coding practices. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and proficient in independently managing assigned work queues.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed medical coding audits and documentation reviews, including reviews for co-source partners.

  • Assign, validate, and sequence CPT and ICD-10 codes for services rendered, as required by the specialty.

  • Collaborate with billing teams and system work queues to support accurate and timely claims processing.

  • Ensure adherence to Medicare policies, coding guidelines, and compliance initiatives.

  • Work independently within assigned work queues, maintaining accuracy and productivity.

  • Protect and handle patient information strictly according to HIPAA and organizational security policies.

  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold a professional and service-oriented work ethic at all times.

  • Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the management team.


Qualifications and Experience Required

  • CPC certification (AAPC) or CCS certification (AHIMA) is mandatory.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare or coding preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of coding experience in relevant specialties such as IP DRG, OP, Denials, SDS, or related fields.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and job-specific software applications.

  • Surgical coding experience is an advantage.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, decision-making skills, and attention to accuracy.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally across all organizational levels.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused, courteous approach.

  • Ability to work with urgency, integrity, and consistent quality.

Physical Requirements
