Manager – Media Production

Location: Vienna Meidling

About the Role

Can you lead a team of approximately 20 employees? Are you familiar with terms like media production, bioreactors, cell cultivation, and GMP? Do you thrive in a highly automated, multi-product production environment?

Boehringer Ingelheim is a global leader in biopharmaceutical drug production, and we are looking for an experienced Manager – Media Production to join our young and ambitious team at our new cell culture production facility in Vienna Meidling. Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations Management

  • Lead the large-scale production unit "Media Production" for manufacturing media and buffers used in biotechnical medicinal products under GMP conditions.
  • Oversee the operation of media batch tanks ranging from hundreds to several thousand liters.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP regulations and international quality standards.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and develop a team of approximately 20 employees in the production unit.
  • Provide professional and personal development opportunities for team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and knowledge-driven work environment.

Budget & Process Management

  • Take budget responsibility for the production unit.
  • Lead process implementation and technology transfers for new products.
  • Ensure the smooth integration of new manufacturing processes into the facility.

Regulatory & Customer Interaction

  • Represent the production system and ongoing processes to customers and international regulatory inspections.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Technology, (Organic) Process Engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry or relevant completed training with extensive experience in large-scale GMP manufacturing.
  • Leadership experience required.
  • Experience in media and buffer production is advantageous.

Technical & Language Skills

  • Proficiency in German and English (spoken & written).
  • Strong understanding of bioreactors, cell cultivation, and GMP production.

  • Ability to lead and develop a team professionally and personally.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Salary

  • The starting salary for this position is €70,000 gross per year (full-time).
  • The final salary will be determined based on professional experience, qualifications, and skills.
