Job Description & Requirements:

Continuum Medical Staffing is seeking a qualified Travel Pharmacist to join our team in Wrangell, Alaska. This role is ideal for individuals with hospital experience who are ready to provide exceptional pharmaceutical care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review all prescriptions for appropriateness of therapy, legality, completeness, contraindications, interactions, allergies, and adverse drug reactions.
  • Screen patient charts and provide clinical consultation, resolving any concerns with prescribers prior to dispensing.
  • Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely.
  • Enter prescriptions into pharmacy software and verify finished prescription orders promptly while maintaining all required documentation.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, organizing and prioritizing work assignments to ensure timely pharmacy services.
  • Advise patients clearly and accurately regarding their medications, including indications, drug names, strengths, usage, and expected changes.
  • Communicate regularly with patients and healthcare providers to resolve issues and optimize care.
  • Conduct chart reviews for prescription refills and medication therapy management, writing recommendations for providers and requesting refills on behalf of patients.
  • Provide drug information, drug therapy consultation, and staff education related to drug therapy.
  • Direct pharmacy support personnel and verify the daily activities of pharmacy technicians.
  • Participate in clinical and administrative activities, including quality control and improvement within the department and clinic.
  • Attend meetings and serve on committees as requested.
  • Ensure the availability, preparation, and control of medications, selecting appropriate drugs for formulary.
  • Take on additional departmental duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work in pharmacy-run clinics and provide health promotion and disease prevention activities related to drug use and preventative therapy.
