🧠 Position Overview

The Translational Imaging Digital Pathology Lead will drive strategic initiatives across Bayer's oncology portfolio, leading efforts in AI-powered digital pathology to support the advancement of precision medicine. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing digital pathology strategies, collaborating cross-functionally with clinical, regulatory, and commercial stakeholders, and fostering both internal and external partnerships.


🔧 Key Responsibilities

🔬 Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead and direct Bayer’s global oncology digital pathology strategy.

  • Develop and implement strategies for digital pathology-based biomarker delivery.

  • Maintain awareness of and influence regulatory and clinical requirements related to digital pathology across global markets.

  • Identify, initiate, and lead cross-functional initiatives supporting oncology and translational sciences strategies.

🤝 Collaboration & Partnership

  • Collaborate with internal teams: Translational Scientists, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, Marketing, Biomarker Partners, PTLs, GDLs, and Data Sciences.

  • Engage with external stakeholders and CROs to foster partnerships and manage outsourced digital pathology solutions.

  • Establish and maintain a strong scientific network in the academic and clinical communities related to oncology and pathology.

🧪 Technical & Clinical Execution

  • Lead the development and deployment of digital pathology algorithms and imaging tools to support clinical trials.

  • Integrate cutting-edge imaging strategies and pathology tools in oncology development programs.

  • Ensure all pathology-related activities adhere to regulatory compliance and global standards.

  • Provide expert review and analysis of pathology workflows, software platforms, and data interpretation.


🎓 Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • MD, MD/PhD, or PhD in clinical pathology/pathophysiology
    (Master’s degree with sufficient experience also considered)

  • Deep understanding of clinical development in oncology, particularly digital pathology and biomarker strategies.

  • Proven experience with:

    • Oncology product registration

    • Regulatory frameworks (biomarkers and digital tools)

    • Working with CROs and imaging/data platforms

  • Strong scientific publication record and presence in the oncology/pathology community

  • Strategic leadership and excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD/MD/MD-PhD with 7+ years of industry experience
    OR Master’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience

  • Background in companion diagnostics and image analysis software tools

  • Experience leading digital pathology strategy across global teams and multi-center clinical trials


💰 Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $281,233.60 – $421,850.40
    (based on skills, experience, certifications, and market data)

  • Additional Compensation: Performance bonus or commission (if applicable)
