Job Summary

The incumbent will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety, health, and environmental systems, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and promoting a culture of safety and sustainability across the site. The role includes risk management, emergency preparedness, and driving continuous improvements in SHE performance.


Key Roles & Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Support implementation of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) policies, standards, and procedures across the site.

  • Strengthen and maintain emergency systems such as fire hydrant, smoke detection, PA, sprinkler, and aerosol systems.

  • Implement and monitor key safety systems such as Work Permits, Gemba, SOI, CSFA, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), MOC (Management of Change), and PSSR (Pre-Startup Safety Review).

  • Lead investigations of incidents and ensure timely implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Lead and conduct mock drills regularly, update the On-site Emergency Plan, and assess site-wide preparedness for emergencies.

  • Maintain inventory and procurement records related to SHE in SAP.

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct safety induction programs and periodic training sessions based on audit findings, Gemba observations, or identified gaps.

  • Organize monthly SHE campaigns and safety committee meetings; ensure implementation of recommendations.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Conduct regular tool inspections, issue work permits, and ensure compliance.

  • Maintain SHE MIS reports and monitor progress towards site MSI and ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) targets.

  • Lead risk assessment reviews such as HIRA (Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment) and JSA (Job Safety Analysis).

Continuous Improvement & Engagement

  • Support planning and execution of SHE-related projects and improvement initiatives.

  • Coordinate employee engagement activities to promote awareness and participation in safety and environmental practices.

  • Contribute to process enhancements in MOC, PSSR, and contractor safety evaluations.


Skills & Attributes

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of safety systems and statutory compliance in a manufacturing or chemical plant environment.

  • Proficiency in emergency management systems, fire protection systems, and risk assessment tools.

  • Hands-on experience with SAP for SHE inventory and reporting.

  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ESG frameworks preferred.
