About the Role

The Team Lead – Scientific Writing will be part of Sanofi Global Hub (SGH), a centralized global capability center supporting Specialty Care, Vaccines, General Medicines, CHC, CMO, and R&D, Data & Digital functions. This role provides strategic direction, operational leadership, and high-level scientific expertise across assigned therapeutic areas.

You will lead a team of scientific writers, drive publication and communication strategies, and ensure excellence across all scientific deliverables to support global medical, HEVA, and commercial functions.


Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and manage a team of scientific writers ranging from junior to expert levels.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members in scientific content development, writing methods, and best practices.

  • Foster strong, effective relationships with medical and scientific stakeholders across assigned therapeutic areas and global business units.

  • Encourage adoption of new technologies, digital tools, and innovative scientific communication approaches.

2. Strategic & Scientific Performance

  • Act as a strategic thought partner to therapeutic area communication leads within assigned GBUs.

  • Maintain deep expertise in assigned therapeutic areas and stay informed on scientific advancements and industry trends.

  • Contribute to publication and communication plans, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of publications, medical education materials, and strategic scientific content.

  • Lead initiatives to enhance writing quality, scientific accuracy, and productivity.

3. Process, Quality & Compliance

  • Oversee project delivery across resourcing, quality, efficiency, and technical standards.

  • Ensure adherence to compliance requirements, regulatory standards, and internal risk controls.

  • Maintain high scientific standards for all clinical, medical, and scientific documents produced.

  • Support development of tools, processes, and technology innovations to elevate productivity and operational excellence.

  • Leverage advanced training tools to enhance team capability development.

4. Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with regional and global scientific communication teams to identify publication needs and deliver assigned outputs.

  • Maintain strong communication channels with medical and scientific stakeholders to ensure alignment and scientific accuracy.


About You

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in scientific or medical content development within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or academic sectors.

  • More than 6 years in a leadership or team management role.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and lead multidisciplinary teams.

Soft Skills

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.

  • Effective people leadership and team development skills.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing in a collaborative environment.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency across multiple therapeutic areas or scientific domains within a GBU.

  • Expertise in scientific/medical writing, medical communications, publication planning, and content strategy.

  • Experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies, AI tools, and digital content solutions in scientific communication.

Education

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, or related field.

  • Medical degree preferred but not mandatory.

Languages

  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
