Role Overview

Sanofi Business Operations (BO) centralizes processes to support Specialty Care, Vaccines, General Medicines, CMO, and R&D, Data & Digital functions globally. The Team Lead – Scientific Writing will guide a team of senior writers, providing strategic direction for scientific communications, publications, and medical education content across assigned therapeutic areas. This role requires a blend of leadership, scientific expertise, and operational excellence to ensure high-quality, compliant, and timely deliverables.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of scientific writers, fostering professional growth and expertise in scientific communication.

  • Act as a strategic thought partner to the Therapeutic Area (TA) Scientific Communication lead.

  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including medical and scientific communities, ensuring alignment with TA and Global Business Unit (GBU) objectives.

  • Promote adoption of innovative tools and technologies to enhance team efficiency and output quality.

Scientific Communications & Performance

  • Provide strategic input into publication and communication plans.

  • Ensure delivery of publications, medical education materials, and other scientific content in accordance with timelines and quality standards.

  • Maintain expertise in assigned therapeutic areas and stay updated on industry trends and key scientific developments.

  • Support development and implementation of advanced tools, processes, and technologies to improve quality and productivity.

Process & Compliance

  • Oversee resourcing, quality, and timeliness of scientific documentation, including clinical and medical reports.

  • Ensure adherence to compliance procedures, internal controls, and applicable regulatory standards.

  • Drive continuous process improvement and quality enhancement initiatives across the scientific writing team.

  • Leverage advanced training delivery tools and techniques to improve effectiveness of team development initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with scientific communication teams globally to identify publication needs and develop strategic deliverables.

  • Maintain effective engagement with medical and scientific stakeholders to ensure accurate, educational, and impactful scientific communication.


Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or related discipline; medical degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 9+ years of experience in scientific content creation within pharmaceutical, healthcare, or academic settings.

  • 6+ years in a leadership role, with demonstrated ability to influence, mentor, and manage teams.

  • Proven experience in scientific communications, publication planning, medical writing, and project management.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Expertise in multiple therapeutic areas under a GBU.

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and people leadership skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional, global teams.

  • Proficient in scientific writing, medical publications, and evidence-based content development.

  • Knowledge of emerging tools, AI, and digital technologies in scientific communications.

  • Excellent English language proficiency (spoken and written).
