Position Overview

Novartis is seeking an accomplished Team Head – Clinical Label Management (CLM) to lead a high-performing team responsible for clinical labeling operations. This leadership role ensures end-to-end accountability for operational deliverables, fosters a culture of excellence, and drives functional strategies in line with global clinical supply and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in clinical or commercial labeling, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional team leadership, managing global stakeholders and complex projects across multiple geographies.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Talent Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of Clinical Label Managers, promoting a culture of empowerment, trust, diversity, inclusion, and high performance.

  • Own people processes including objective setting, development planning, performance management, and overall talent management.

  • Identify, recruit, and develop high-quality talent aligned with business needs.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure CLM deliverables are met across all trials, projects, and special assignments within agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Assign resources effectively, matching team expertise to project complexities.

  • Foster operational discipline aligned with the Global Clinical Supply (GCS) planning rhythm.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to maintain operational excellence, quality standards, and best practices.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant standards including GMP, HSE, ISEC, Data Integrity, and Data Privacy.

  • Support internal and external audits, inspections, and adherence to corporate and legal guidelines.

  • Act as first line of escalation for operational challenges, resolving issues efficiently and proactively.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collaborate across functional teams to ensure seamless execution of labeling projects.

  • Represent the CLM team in cross-functional meetings, delivering clear updates and strategic input.


Key Requirements

Experience & Expertise

  • Minimum 12 years of practical experience in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry.

  • 8–10 years of direct people management experience, leading global teams and projects.

  • Strong expertise in Clinical or Commercial Labeling within a regulatory environment.

  • In-depth understanding of the drug development process and global regulatory requirements.

  • Proven experience in project management, organization, and planning.

  • Familiarity with relevant standards including GMP, HSE, and Novartis-specific guidelines.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience managing global stakeholders and cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and handle multiple priorities.

  • Presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex operational issues clearly.
