Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert – Surgery Coding to join our Medical & Clinical Operations team in Noida. The ideal candidate will serve as a clinical and coding authority for Surgery coding, guiding coding professionals, ensuring compliance, and enhancing coding accuracy across the organization. This role requires expertise in CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and NCCI edits, as well as deep knowledge of US healthcare compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver training programs and updates for coding professionals on Surgery coding practices, including CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and NCCI edits.
Stay current with changes in coding guidelines (CMS, AMA, AHA coding clinics) and integrate updates into team communication and workflows.
Maintain accurate records and reporting for coding assessments, performance metrics, and quality reviews.
Monitor coder performance through audits, quality reviews, and detailed feedback sessions to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.
Participate in coding calibration meetings and contribute to discussions on complex coding cases.
Support coders in resolving complex cases, improving documentation, and clarifying coding standards.
Collaborate with compliance, QA, and operations teams to identify coding gaps and drive continuous process improvement.
Ensure adherence to company policies, employment contracts, and operational directives, including flexibility in work locations, shifts, and team assignments as required.
Required Qualifications
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Life Sciences, or a related field is preferred.
Certification: AAPC/AHIMA certification required (CPC, CIC, CCS, or COC).
Experience: 5+ years of professional medical coding experience with specialization in Surgery coding.
Technical Expertise:
Comprehensive understanding of Surgery and E/M guideline changes and CMS documentation requirements.
Knowledge of US healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) systems.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR platforms and auditing systems (EPIC, eCAC, 3M, Cerner, etc.).
Skills:
Strong medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology knowledge.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Proven attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with claims processing, managed care, or US healthcare insurance systems.
Exposure to clinical documentation improvement programs or quality assurance initiatives.
