About the Role

This role focuses on thermal analysis, reaction calorimetry, and assessing reaction hazards in chemical manufacturing operations. It is critical for ensuring process and product safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct hazard evaluations and risk assessments for chemical processes, focusing on thermal stability and reaction hazards.

Perform reaction calorimetry techniques (DSC, ARC, RSD, RC-1) to analyze reactions and establish safe operating parameters.

Analyze and interpret thermal study data to identify hazards and recommend safety measures.

Generate Process Hazard Evaluation (PHE) and Grinding Assessment reports.

Participate in PHAs, risk assessments, HAZOPs, and FMEA meetings; conduct presentations to raise hazard awareness.

Collaborate with product development, process engineering, EHS, and manufacturing teams to mitigate risks.

Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and safety recommendations.

Support internal/external audits with expertise in hazard evaluations.

Propose innovative solutions to advance the Hazard Evaluation program (e.g., PAT technologies, data-rich experiments).

Conduct literature searches to support work/troubleshooting.

Meet productivity goals, deadlines, and contribute as a team member.

Physical Requirements

Wear appropriate protective equipment.

Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications
Minimum:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related Life Science/Engineering discipline.

1+ year of independent lab research.

1+ year of industrial experience.

Preferred:

Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.

1+ year in chemical industry or academic physical/organometallic chemistry groups.

Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Chemdraw.

Strong oral/written communication skills.

Knowledge of chemical handling methods.

Experience in wet chemistry labs and spectroscopic techniques (NMR, FTIR, UV, HPLC, GC).

Mechanical and troubleshooting skills with lab instruments and production equipment.

Familiarity with process techniques, unit operations, ISO Quality standards.

Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $85,700 – $129,800 (based on experience, education, skills, and location).

Eligible for performance-based bonuses.
